The only reason you see this page is because 1&1 is notorious for not responding to customers' cancellation requests.
Like a typical bait & switch company, 1&1 Internet lures customers in with low domain registration prices (for the first year) and collects their financial information (credit card number, paypal account number, etc). When the time comes to renew your service, the price jumps at least 50% and 1&1 automatically charges their jacked-up fees using the information they collected earlier. There is no way to opt out -- 1&1 account management interface conveniently lacks the option to cancel automatic billing and their customer service will not respond to such requests. There are only two ways to cancel the service: 1. waste a lot of time to get a hold of 1&1's customer service (plus more time to argue with them) or 2. dispute the charge with your credit card company.
